deep house and deep techno

Following the outburst, there was darkness. Then came the stars. Only the strongest could withstand the vastness of the dark, whereas the light was fast and effective. This eternal battle between the light and the dark formed an unexpected balance. A balance for life. Throughout this endless conflict, byproducts came about. Planets, moons and humans. Amongst these humans, a pair of twins set out on a journey. A journey of discovery and expression through music. They reflect upon the might of the dark and all the sophistication it brings about. They tell the story of the lonely moon, struggling on its own against all the darkness. Join the twins in an epic story of the light and the dark. The Void and the Moon. The duality. The twin-hood of the universe. – Beatport

Wind Horse Records bursts forth once again with another edition of the Indian deep house label’s yearly sampler series. These samplers serve as a platform for showcasing Wind Horse’s more experimental side and to introduce some new producers that will be working with the label. Wind Horse Sampler 6 features eleven deep and exotic house music tracks from up-and-coming artists hailing from South Asia and around the world. Most of the sampler’s producers are based across India, as Wind Horse works to discover and expose electronic music from within its home country. But, as the label has an eye on the global house movement, artists from Jamaica (David Marston), Russia (Igor Gonya), South Africa (Master Kenton) and Morocco (Kali G) are also included. Wind Horse aims to cover all points of the globe, to show that forward-thinking electronic music can spring from any city or country.- Soundcloud

Cosmic Cowboys

It is in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Venice, that Nico and Kaled decide to create a new project called “Cosmic Cowboys” with the purpose melting their different musical backgrounds into a new sound that soon has become their very own trademark worldwide. Big friends since they were 10 years old, they got soon involved into electronic music and influenced by a wide range of styles as house, techno, trip-hop, electronica, chill out and classic music they developed during the last decade a style that couldn’t be defined with other term than “cosmic”, edging between the silky lines that divide deep-house, dub and tech-house with their quintessential romantic touch, always able to create a special intensity in their music. – R.A.

For more than the last decade, Ron Flatter has been enriching the house and techno landscape with his own direct and energetic productions and warm, groove-driven DJ sets. Initially the young German was a keen skateboarder and hip hop fan, but the lure of dance music soon pulled him in and he has never looked back since. Over the years he has turned out a high number of consistently excellent and innovative tracks that are filled with unique sound design, fresh melodies and plenty of dance floor drive. He has done so on labels like Pour La Vie, Still vor Talent and Traum Schallplatten, always evolving with each new release and exploring fresh new ground. Plenty of taste making talents ardor the world have all played his productions in the past, and recent cuts like “Stupid World” and “Desert” have taken DJs by storm: they combine heavy drums with light, emotive pianos and well-timed breaks that thrill and surprise just when you least expect- Soundcloud

Edward Wagner’s 4th release for his own EWA label heads in a dark and emotional direction as the Glaswegian based producer delivers his 3 latest offerings.
‘Trills For Thrills’ features poignant cello melodies underpinned by marching beats for a distinctive sound where its elements are woven from seamless harmony to deliberate division.
‘A Date With Darkness’ takes a similar line but here the strings have an ominous application. It’s a driving techno cut with a touch of EBM influence that builds into a cacophony of resonance.
‘Engima’ is the final piece with Wagner giving us more of a stripped back workout, portraying a tech house drive while still maintaining the moodiness and string-laden rudiments of the other tracks.

One of the main proponents of the current slow-mo and sultry house Revolution, Slow Hands aka Ryan Cavanagh is an organic specialist. His rich yet languid style bares all the hallmarks of the classical and compositional training he has had, whilst everything from jazz to blues to trippy electronica inform the New Yorker’s well honed production palette.  -Bandcamp

It was early 2012 that ripples of hype started to reverberate around an unknown artist by the name of Amirali and in July of that year his ‘In Time’ LP was released on Crosstown Rebels to critical acclaim. Clash Magazine shortlisted it for album of the year, Metro UK newspaper named ‘My Way’ their track of the year, whilst Resident Advisor pronounced it “an example of perfect craftsmanship”. The album transcended genres and won an army of fans around the globe.
Amirali received widespread support from BBC Radio1 culminating in him being invited to perform live at the very first video broadcast of the highly coveted BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix. Since then he has forged a career as an uncompromising musician / songwriter and live performer which has seen him touring the globe performing at some of the world’s most prestigious music venues including: Berghain (Berlin), Fabric (London), D-Edge & Warung (Brazil), Arma 17 (Moscow), Warehouse Project (Manchester) and Trade (Miami) to name but a select few. Boris Bunnik can always be relied upon to deliver the goods. Here, he once again dons the familiar Versalife moniker for an outing on Shipwrec, his first under the alias of 2016. The veteran Dutchman kicks things off with the atmospheric, deep electro bliss of “Shine Eye”, before reaching for the bolder melodies and warmer chords on the similarly inclined “Autobots”. He changes tack a little on “Milnet”, combining drowsy ambient chords with snappy, Chicago-influenced 4/4 percussion, before drawing another fine EP to a close with the broken techno beats and intergalactic electronics of “Transgenics”. -Juno Records

Imagine you’re hit by a freight train and at the very same moment you’re tickled with a feather. That’s exactly how the groove of Dole & Kom feels like, and the track Phara Oh is another prime example. Bouncy beats and booming bass proclaim an unmistakable message: It’s all about the dance floor! A melodic torrent accumulates with each and every bar before it finally erupts and cascades through the arrangement in shiny streams. Then exotic singing starts and the track takes off, leaving the grey world of everyday life a thousand miles behind. The Remix by The Glitz is just as compelling, yet completely different: Based on an extremely heavyweight bass line their version merges the organic warmth of the original into explosive Funk. Away is the name of the second strike on this record, and it is just as uncompromising in terms of push and pressure. Weightless delays, drifting sounds and subliminal siren singing. The remix of the legendary combo from Mecklenburg draws its hypnotic power from lively percussions and a distinct feeling of deepness, creating their signature vibe.- Soundcloud

Jonas Rathsman announces his latest offering with cutting-edge innovators Crosstown Rebels. ‘Complex’ featuring Josef Salvat was released on 10th June 2016. This is a tech-blues odyssey, an introverts primal scream, where complex emotions and urges are vented and perfectly complemented by Rathsman’s explorations into the dark corners of electronic music. Enjoy the journey.- Soundcloud

Camea’s interest in techno, deep house and the space between comes from her musician roots; she is a classically and jazz trained pianist, as well as fluent in several other instruments. Her hard work and dedication has earned her a rigorous international tour schedule, and she is frequently playing in her home city at clubs like Watergate, Tresor, Panorama Bar and many other underground events. Even though DJing has stayed the forefront of Camea’s passion, when she is not out performing she spends most of her time in her studio in Berlin, and has become one of the handful of women from America to make it to the International stage for her genre. -Tailored Communication

It took Etapp Kyle just a short time to make a giant leap from a stay-at-home audiophile to a status as hero on the decks. By now it’s clear he made the right moves – this young Ukranian artist is developing rapidly.
Today Etapp Kyle is on the threshold of a new level of creativity, alongside Techno music’s key artists. His studio work is being met with critical acclaim by respected artists and labels. Thus, his debut four tracker EP got released on Ben Klock’s label Klockworks, finally reaching the attention he deserves, channeling his music through sound systems of festivals and clubs worldwide. Having enlisted the support and interest of Russia’s Techno institution ARMA17, he made his first appearance in Moscow a couple of years ago. These days he is travelling across the world and also made camp with the Ostgut team.
With the most sophisticated combinations of Techno sounds of the dance floor, Etapp Kyle invites us to explore the depths of a piercing cold canyon, now and then carrying fleetingly to a textural and hardly tangible landscape of a forest at night, with softness and smooth motion of warm air. His love for dark and dynamic sounds finds its expression in the mixing with soft melodies and powerful grooves creating transparent, disembodied imprints of an illusory atmosphere.

This Etapp Kyle 12″ contains two magnificent, boundless excursions into reduced minimalism, without losing dance floor appeal or venturing two far into the abstract. The outer cuts are both sublime, and the B2 is a nice bonus which you’ll like if you’ve fancied any one of the two previously mentioned ones. Steady, focused, gently evolving minimal techno bliss.-Discogs
