Gypsy Beats Playlist -What I call Gypsy Beats is music that mixes elements of Balkan, Parisian, Swing and even Klezmer with modern beat making and post production techniques. Most tracks are fairly mid tempo but there are a few slower tracks as well.
It’s Dub, but reverberating far beyond the genre’s borders. It has a summer Reggae vibe, but doesn’t sound like just another chapter of that good, old story. It’s perfidiously dope, but at the same time extremely danceable. It has clever lyrics, but it’s all about the sound. It’s what JPATTERSSON describes as PROGADUB – because he’s not from Jamaica, he’s from East Germany. Inspired by heavyweight bass lines, bicycle rides and Caribbean riddims, by chocolate, vintage groovebox sounds and the carefree ruckus of kids playing on the street, the young talent delivers a style that is chiefly progressive and diverse. Some tracks come with a sublime hint of Balkan sound, some with an air of Jazz. In doing what felt right, JPATTERSSON has successfully defined his very own genre: PROGADUB.- Soundcloud

The Brooklyn Gypsies are a group of NYC based musicians/ producers whose creative influences draw from the constant shifting of an ever changing urban sociopolitical landscape while retaining their unique cultural backgrounds through what has come to be recognized as “Gypsy” music. Originating from Spain, Japan, Russia, Italy & U.S.A. BK Gypsies truly represents Brooklyn’s diverse ethnic heritage and style. The gypsies came to be in 2012 within Williamsburg Brooklyn’s Studio BPM music scene. Members include: Carmen Estevez, Takuya Nakamura, Tina Kristina, Brandon Lewis, Troy “Mobius” Simms & Zeb “The Spy From Cairo”. After a number of collaborative projects between the artist were explored the opportunity to form a band that incorporated elements from each project arose. The groups sound is an infusion of Mediterranean, North African, Arabic Themes with Electronic, Dancehall and Dub Reggae. The term “Gypsy” was incorporated into the band name representing the nomadic spirit & way of life within this musical journey.
