Although I have this under Folktronica its a pretty hard album to define. You will find some modern classical compositions as well.

Australian-born composer and producer living and working in England, making eclectic music that often combines live instrumental performance with technology, location recordings and found sounds. Signed artist with Bigo & Twigetti.- Soundcloud

Hanni El Khatib, a first-generation American, is the son of a Palestinian father and a Filipino mother. He worked as a creative director for skateboard fashion label HUF and as a designer for an advertising agency before starting musical career as a multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter blending blues, folk and garage rock into songs designed (in his words) “for anyone who has ever been shot or hit by a train.” Having debuted with two singles issued by Innovative Leisure in 2010, the following year he opened for Florence + the Machine before releasing his debut, Will the Guns Come Out, bringing about comparisons withDevendra Banhart, Jon Spencer and The White Stripes.Backed by drummer and close friend Nicky Fleming-Yaryan, he’s played the 2011 SXSW and Bonnaroo festivals. His second album, Head in the Dirt, released after two years of excessive touring, was recorded by Dan Auerbach of Black Keys who’s provided a more polished and sophisticated sound, letting the music retain the same eclectic quality.  Hanni El Khatib’s third album, Moonlight was released in 2015.- Wikipedia

Monochord are Vienna-based musicians Bernhard Hammer and Jakob Schneidewind, two thirds of Elektro Guzzi, though Monochord paints a different picture. Electroacoustic experiments and filmic elements define the music that develops instinctively yet irrevocably, a sense of forward motion setting them apart. Compositionally minimal, these tracks maximize their inherent potential all the way through to their logical and even illogical end. Referencing electronica, ambient, shoegaze and at times modern classical harmonics, Monochord builds and unbuilds in a slow heartbeat. Introspective and filmic, its quiet and non-confrontational nature makes Monochord move in the interzone between various spheres. Their music escapes definition and that is its truest definition. Its subtle pulse and evocative and drony feel invite and inspire.- Soundcloud

Svart Records is a Finnish label, formed in Turku in 2009 by Jarkko Pietarinen and Tomi Pulkki, specializing in re-releasing underground music on vinyl. Heres a sampler containing nu jazz and a couple folk psych tracks.

Boris Bunnik can always be relied upon to deliver the goods. Here, he once again dons the familiar Versalife moniker for an outing on Shipwrec, his first under the alias of 2016. The veteran Dutchman kicks things off with the atmospheric, deep electro bliss of “Shine Eye”, before reaching for the bolder melodies and warmer chords on the similarly inclined “Autobots”. He changes tack a little on “Milnet”, combining drowsy ambient chords with snappy, Chicago-influenced 4/4 percussion, before drawing another fine EP to a close with the broken techno beats and intergalactic electronics of “Transgenics”. -Juno Records

Angry NWOBHM guitars. Arrogant leads. A singer that’s more punk than metal. Earworm riffs. Lyrics out of the notebook of a schizophrenic religious zealot. Relentless drum barrage. 29 minutes of steel fists pulverizing your face. A vinyl collecting, tape trading, guitar shredding heavy metal kid can grow up, learn to do other things and leave the fast guitar riffs and apocalyptic metal visions of his teenage years behind. But the fast guitar riffs and apocalyptic metal visions can NEVER really leave the kid.
This is the story of Rotör’s riffmeister JVH, who found himself recording a pile of early 80’s NWOBHM inspired music in the early 2010’s. He just couldn’t help himself, once that floodgate of nasty heavy metal was re-opened, the riffs just came pouring out. The old beast woken up from years of slumber, thirsty for blood. JVH recruited four other three-letter-names to work on the songs and Rotör became it’s own kind of a metal monster, proudly standing on it’s 10 steel legs.
Rotör may include bits of Speedtrap, Hard Action, Vino Siitin, Tremor, Arkhamin Kirjasto, Seremonia or Steel Mammoth.

The musical project began with the blending of talents of two artists. It’s an original sound that mixes sounds from reggae and dub, with triphop influences. Iseo’s warm and dreamy voice is accompanied by the brass section, The Mouseunters – a tenor sax and a trumpet inspired in jazz . In 2015, Iseo & Dodosound published their debut album “Cat Platoon” and toured in Spain and France.

Fort Atlantic is analog warmth and digital madness, quiet songs of searching and anthemic songs of discovery. “We balance between heartbeats and hard drives,” says Jon Black, singer and writer for Fort Atlantic. Whether it’s the one-take troubadour folk song of suburban escape “New York Lights” or the nine-minute Bladerunner meets Gibson Guitars movement of “I’m Wrong”, Fort Atlantic’s debut truly stretches the divide of the current musical landscape. The live show is a tug-of-war between humanity and technology mirroring the existence of our city streets and signal searching while never losing sight that each song tells our story in this binary terrarium. A lazy beat filled mix of disco funk by Gerd Janson, who runs the German label Running Back together with Thorsten Scheu (aka Glance). As many kids who have grown up in the early 90s in the South West of Germany, Gerd Janson was a regular guest at Mannheim’s legendary Milk Club. Although this venue was most popular for putting jungle on the map in Germany, Gerd always used to wait eagerly for the early morning hours when the pace slowed down and US styled house was the ruling sound. In the following years, his deep love for house and disco music was fed in Frankfurt’s Wild Pitch Club by Heiko MSO and Ata. -Resident Advisor

Crystal Syphon, one of the greatest “lost” groups of the West Coast psych scene, came together in Merced, California in 1965. Originally a Beatles / Byrds-influenced unit called the Morlochs, they soon shed their original moniker and moved in a more psychedelic direction, becoming a fixture on the ballroom circuit from 1966-1970. Although their music may nod in the direction of the New Tweedy Brothers and Quicksilver Messenger Service at times, it’s imbued throughout with a distinctive sound that arose from practicing up to six nights a week. The band entertained offers from various labels during their existence, but as they insisted on complete artistic control and ownership of their music, no deals were struck. Now, some 44 years after its creation, Roaratorio is making the music of Crystal Syphon available for the first time ever. Drawn from studio tracks, rehearsal tapes and a live recording from the Fillmore West, Family Evil is released in an edition of only 500 copies!

‘Texture Like Sun’ is the follow up to the much-loved self-titled debut by Anglo-Mauritian producer, singer and percussionist Joseph Deenmamode aka Mo Kolours. The Guardian described ‘Mo Kolours’ as “the best album Curtis Mayfield never made with A Tribe Called Quest and Lee Perry”. Soundcloud

With another stellar year under her belt, Anja Schneider is hitting 2016 in inspired form. A new year means a fresh sound for the Berliner, who is diving deep into her record collection to draw inspiration from a variable palette of sounds from across the years. The accomplished three tracker kicks off with ‘Soul Traveler’, a rich jazzy vocal-led techno cut that shakes with Schneider’s unmistakable groove. Deeply nuanced and analogue-driven, ‘Vintage’ mixes up low humming bass, multi-layered drums and melodic chords for a beautiful deep techno offering. ‘Bay Side’ drips with atmosphere and is the artist’s brilliant twist on tech funk, driven by punchy keys, intricate drums and cascading synth hook that builds the tempo towards a satisfying dancefloor-ready crescendo. Berlin-based, Londoner Jay Shepheard arrives with his inaugural Galaktika EP – yet another tour de force in intelligent and groove-based, acid-licked house. The ‘Silvery’ EP’s pseudo-title track ‘Light of the Silvery Toaster’ mirrors it’s namesake with crisp, metallic percussion and glimmering acid, all elevated by a deliciously tight, burbling baseline. ‘E To The Power’ meanwhile draws on Avery-esque, playful vocal trickles, whilst injecting that trademark sleazed-up Shepheard funk, building and building and into a relentless, joyous groove; leaving ‘K3’ to wrap up proceedings with 6 irresistible minutes of intricately layered, pitched down, disco-house, driven by a very clever two-tier bassline and shimmering, subtly melodic atmospheric washes.-Soundcloud

Orchestra of Spheres are a psychedelic rock group, but are definitely a more whimsical take on the genre. Noname is the latest voice to emerge this year from the loose assemblage of artists gathered around Chance the Rapper, and her music shimmers with the evening-streetlight glow that characterizes most of them. Like Chance’s Coloring Book, or Jamila WoodsHEAVN, or even Joey Purp’s rough but sternly humaneiiiDrops, Noname’s music feels luminously positive, clear-eyed, and compassionate. “Diddy Bop” is luxurious and easy and warm, a reminiscence about good times, or better ones. Her voice is in a playful and confident middle range between forestalling, singing, and slam poetry, and her lyrics carve out enough details to fill the song with an entire imagined cast of characters—jealous boyfriends griping at girls in love with Raz-B from B2K;  kids nabbing twenties from their mom’s purse.

Wild Beasts are an indie rock band from the United Kingdom. Autarkic is Nadav Spiegel, a Tel Aviv born musician, who currently resides in Berlin. Autarkic is the latest representation of Tel Aviv’s cold wave scene. The leftfield movement through an Eastern lens. Holding up a mirror to the current state of his world, Autarkic (assisted by Red Axes) released the Hello To Mrs Blank EP last July on Golf Channel Recordings. 4 tracks which manage to be thought provoking, compelling, and even anthemic, in equal measure. Jpattersson — SCORPIOS MYKONOS

It’s Dub, but reverberating far beyond the genre’s borders. It has a summer Reggae vibe, but doesn’t sound like just another chapter of that good, old story. It’s perfidiously dope, but at the same time extremely danceable. It has clever lyrics, but it’s all about the sound. It’s what JPATTERSSON describes as PROGADUB – because he’s not from Jamaica, he’s from East Germany. Inspired by heavyweight bass lines, bicycle rides and Caribbean riddims, by chocolate, vintage groovebox sounds and the carefree ruckus of kids playing on the street, the young talent delivers a style that is chiefly progressive and diverse. Some tracks come with a sublime hint of Balkan sound, some with an air of Jazz. In doing what felt right, JPATTERSSON has successfully defined his very own genre: PROGADUB.- Soundcloud

Imagine you’re hit by a freight train and at the very same moment you’re tickled with a feather. That’s exactly how the groove of Dole & Kom feels like, and the track Phara Oh is another prime example. Bouncy beats and booming bass proclaim an unmistakable message: It’s all about the dance floor! A melodic torrent accumulates with each and every bar before it finally erupts and cascades through the arrangement in shiny streams. Then exotic singing starts and the track takes off, leaving the grey world of everyday life a thousand miles behind. The Remix by The Glitz is just as compelling, yet completely different: Based on an extremely heavyweight bass line their version merges the organic warmth of the original into explosive Funk. Away is the name of the second strike on this record, and it is just as uncompromising in terms of push and pressure. Weightless delays, drifting sounds and subliminal siren singing. The remix of the legendary combo from Mecklenburg draws its hypnotic power from lively percussions and a distinct feeling of deepness, creating their signature vibe.- Soundcloud

Heres a 4 track playlist by Swedish nu jazz fusion trio KUF. Experimental yet rewarding for those with an ear for a groove. One thing’s for sure, these boys can sure play. Notice how much of the crazy reverb and effects are coming through the stand up bass, often played with a bow.

This is pretty mind boggling. 102 full length mixes from DJ Jones MC Doul, containing thousands of songs dedicated to the 2 founders and godfathers of Cosmic Music, DJ Daniele Baldelli & Claudio Tosi Brandi (BD & TBC). They started up the whole “Cosmic-Thing” in the “Cosmic Disco” back in the late 70’s. Without them this style of mixing probably wouldn’t have grown like it is today. Thanks for existing!!!!!!!  This playlist contains the first mixes that made Cosmic Music popular in Italy. A real Diamond for cosmic lovers:) Have fun!!!!

“ Why I have to play two hours of only funky or only disco? I like to play every kind of music together, and that’s what I like to say is my cosmic style.” – Daniele Baldelli. Inspired by his time at the Volcano Extravaganza festival on the Sicilian Island of Stromboli, Daniele Baldelli has created three new cosmic tracks. Including an epic remix of 1970’s electro-rock band, Ashra. A founding father of the Cosmic Disco sound, Italian DJ Daniele Baldelli rose to prominence with his mixture of European electronica, synth pop (often played at slower speeds), equalizer effects, and ethnic folk music. Baldelli’s use of African and Brazilian material helps distinguish his style from Italo disco, which permeated the clubs of Northern Italy during the 1970s. – Soundcloud

Brain Machine return to Emotional Response with their second album, Peaks. After their self titled debut became a cult for the cosmic, kosmische and kraut inspired explorers, they return some 8 years later with their follow up. Gone beyond. That’s what they say when a (astro) pilot crashes to earth and takes the journey into the big sky. When Juan Trippe took that last flight little did he know that his re-incarnated self would be an electronic pioneer. In tandem with his co-pilot Guido Zen (his own father also a pilot) and Kyle Martin (from the Land Of Light) they formed Brain Machine and scaled the highest Peaks to bring back music both unearthly and intensely human. Are we all not stardust anyway? This music proves it, takes you out flips you over and rolls you in stardust.

Tensei returns with another installment of the HotBox Sessions. These instrumentals were originally created in 2009-2010 and used by Chicago mc’s for mixtapes and various projects. The HotBox was our old studio in Chicago in a tiny extra room that had no central air. It used to get very hot and literally we would be sweating while making music in the summer. These songs were created prior to incorporating jazz and soul musicians to our sound. Tribute, the final track is a bonus cut inspired by the late great dilla. The vocal versions to these songs are below

Rather than waste words, Marek Hemmann has always preferred to let his music speak for itself. Groovy House, minimalist Techno, sonic sensitivity and an unbridled joy in melody unite to speak of restless days and magical nights, tearing holes in the cloud cover and carrying sun beams to the deepest cellar. However camera-shy Marek Hemmann may be – he always risks something in his tracks. His musical roots reach far back into the nineties, when he was absorbing the spirit of local techno parties every weekend in Jena and its surroundings. Here he found a deep and blissful connection with people, rhythms, light and sounds. Inspired by this, Marek Hemmann’s particular sound developed over time: an essentially reduced but still expressive electronic dance music, aware of its origins, though always pressing new boundaries of sound. Deep bass meets voice fragments, shakers and percussion carry the rhythm – funky minimal techno leaves plenty of free space for other musical elements. Always in search of the perfect groove, and catchy melodies that resonate for a long time. Over the years, Marek Hemmann has written countless musical treasures into the repertoire and more than earned the moniker „unique”. He makes space and sound accessible to people by crafting it in his own way, and remains above all the explorer of a genre in which he and his music are long-anchored, but never stagnant. Today Marek Hemmann lives in Berlin and from there tours the clubs and festivals of the world. Like his studio productions, his live shows direct the focus first and foremost to the floor, but are always augmented by a very particular, musically sensitive ease. A sound not only difficult to resist, but which tells us more about Marek Hemmann than words ever could.

Jonas Rathsman announces his latest offering with cutting-edge innovators Crosstown Rebels. ‘Complex’ featuring Josef Salvat was released on 10th June 2016. This is a tech-blues odyssey, an introverts primal scream, where complex emotions and urges are vented and perfectly complemented by Rathsman’s explorations into the dark corners of electronic music. Adel and Jan-Eric are Autotune, a dynamic artist duo from Berlin. They are deeply rooted in the Berlin night life culture with an authentic clubbing background reaching way back into the early 90s. With Adel having grown up in West Berlin and Jan-Eric in East Berlin, they together represent a good mix of strong cultural diversities that are pleasantly intertwined into a snug and seductive groove flow. They have played together live for more than 15 years now, their sound matured on a masterly level which seldomly seeks its match anywhere around the world. Over the years Autotune has given birth to a number of deep funk driven house and techno tracks. Their seductive groovy energy especially unfolds whenever they are playing live. No live set equals the other. Autotune is constantly thriving to improve itself and find new ways of expression. Therefore their sound is constantly evolving. Capturing their audiences bodies to souls and being a good creative source to everyone who digs techno and house music.- Soundcloud

Opening track ‚In Spirals’ is an unabashed ode to funked up baselines and sparkling Italo melodies. ‘Agamous’ pulls us in to sensual acid territory by taking 808 beats and 303 beeps into unchartered sexy locales. ‘Go South’ continues the sexed up and synthy motif, and throws some electrified jungle drumming into the mix, making this the most intense and darkest track on the EP. ‘Don’t Push Me’ begins its journey with a more grooving disco percussion line and then heaps on some Chicago pads, ultimately blossoming into a full blown hands-in-the-air synth-exercise. – Soundcloud
